TO SAVE MONEY AND IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY DO THE FOLLOWING:

Clean your print head after each roll of ribbon (or each roll of direct thermal labels) using manufacturer recommended cleaning kit. DO NOT skip this important step.
Use the lowest setting possible for acceptable print quality: this will conserve energy and prolong printhead life.
Print at the lowest speed possible. Increasing the speed increases the abrasiveness on the print head.
Prevent static discharge by grounding yourself before touching the printhead.
Silicon coatings reduce printhead wear. Use premium quality ribbons.
Protect the printhead elements from abrasion by using a slightly wider ribbon then label stock
Routine preventative maintenance and quality service is always cheaper than no revenue from broken equipment.
